Description

Carex testaceae ‘Prairie Fire’ is a small evergreen grass with narrow arching olive-green leaves in spring. The leaves change slowly to bronze in the summer and to a beautiful orange-red in the autumn. The change in colour makes this plant steal the show! This sedge flowers from June to August with inconspicuous red-brown inflorescences. This grass likes a position in full sun or semi shade and a well-drained soil, but especially not too wet soil in the winter months. The plant is reasonably drought-tolerant and tolerant of sea wind and air pollution.
