‘Ficus Gustissimo Perretta’ is a fig tree that produces fruit twice a year and is best suited to our climate. This fig tree is extremely winter Hardy and gives your garden a Mediterranean atmosphere. The fruit has a sweet taste and can be eaten immediately after picking. The figs are green-brown with flesh that is deep red in colour. The fig has no flowers, in fact the fruits are also the flowers. The leaves of the fig tree are in the shape of a hand. The leaf of the fig tree is best known from the depiction of Adam and Eve in classical painting, where the fig leaf was used to cover the naked body. In the second year after planting, we can start harvesting in late summer. The fruits will ripen better if you protect the tree during the winter. Ficus Gustissimo Perretta’ needs a sheltered but sunny location, preferably as warm as possible. A south-facing garden, out of the wind, is therefore optimal. It is a fast grower, so if you do not prune it, it will grow to a height of several metres. This fig nests faster than most varieties. If you think the branches are getting too long, you can prune the fig.
