100% Fruit by Perfect Garden – Lubera® selection, fruitful gardening

Every once in a while you come across a special group of people in life. These people can help you, inspire you, or can be likeminded and on the same mission. Even though you have never met them before, you feel that it’s destiny. This happened to our 100% Fruit team last year.

As you might know by now at 100% Fruit we are constantly looking for the best varieties in fruit plants. In our mission to having the best range in fruit plants we travel all over the world. We’ve noticed it before, a lot of our favourite varieties within our range come from the same source. A grower and breeder from Switzerland named Lubera. It goes without saying that we’ve decided to plan a meeting with them. A match made in heaven was born!

Lubera®

It’s about time to introduce these friendly Swiss now to you as well. They have production sites in Switzerland and Germany, and just like our 100% Fruit team they have committed their life to fruit plants. Owner of Lubera Markus Kobelt. Next to growing fruit plants they also do a lot of breeding. Breeding actually is improving regular varieties. In example; they can make crossovers with two different varieties. They do this until the best characteristics of the two plants can be found in one. A new and improved variety is then born. Ofcourse this isn’t as simple as it now seems, this takes years of research and hard work. This is why Lubera has created in the last 25 years almost 100 varieties. The best and most interesting of these varieties we will offer in our 100% – Fruit Lubera® selection.

Assortment

You can recognise the Lubera®varieties in our 100% Fruit range by the red pot and the Lubera(R) logo with the Swiss flag underneath. We have berries such as gooseberries, raspberries and blueberries, but also Lubera apples, peers, plums and cherries available. Below you can find some information and photos from any of their most remarkable varieties. Through our (IFRAME) you can find more information on all the varieties selected by Lubera.

The Lubera® Redlove® apples

This is a new type of apple, almost a new fruit. This redfleshed apple varieties of the Redlove® family taste good,  with more sugar and much more acidity at the same time as normal apples. They are really multipurpose apples, for fresh eating and for creative cooking at the same time. The anthocyanins that make the red flesh are said to be very healthy. The Redlove® trees are also resistant to scab. It’s not only the unique colour of the red pulp that makes us love this apple, but also the wonderful pink flowers in spring and the red leaves. This is for sure the fist apple tree which is also one of the most beautiful ornamental trees. And the story goes on. The Lubera® breeding team just released the first columnar Redlove® variety, called Redini® Cuckoo®. A perfect additon to container gardens, urban gardens and small places.  For your information: in some supermarkets you can already find the fist Redlove(R) fruits…

Lubera® Twotimer® Raspberries

This special Raspberry, already one of our favourites and also on of our runners. This variety is care free because this is a summer and autumn raspberry in one. So finally it doesn’t mather anymore how you prune your Raspberry. Now we hear you thinking, and the answer is Yes! Already a Lubera variety. You can harvest the big and tasty Rasberries two times a year. Succes guaranteed!

Lubera® Low-berries®

New Lubera® showpiece are the Lubera® low-berries®. In this range we already have a compact blackberry, raspberry and blueberry. The average garden is getting smaller and smaller, but at the same time people with just a balconny or small patio are ging interested in growing their own vegetables and fruit. Unfortunately so far the most berries will get way too big for growing in a container on a balconny. Except for the low-berries and lowfruits, Because Lubera’s ® motto is we deliver what our customers want. So from now on, also on balconny or patio a care free and healthy berry harvest is possible with care-free and healthy fruitplants and – trees.
